Purpose 

s To let us know of any 
medical conditions you may 
have that will cause serious 
harm or death to you once 
you've started your initial 
entry training 

s To advise you of the most 
important action you can take 
to prevent most infectious 


You volunteered to defend the 

nation 


• You joined The Army 

• You want to realize 
your potential 

• You want to change 
your life for the better 

• You came to training 




Something happened during 

training 

• Your family gets a visit by the chaplain 

• Service member died in training 

• Of a pre-existing medical condition 

• A death that might have been prevented

Failure to disclose medical 
conditions can be DISASTROUS 


• Tell us if you have one of the medical 
conditions that the next two slides wi 
describe. 

• Even if you told us before, tell us 
again 

• These conditions may kill you! 

• With no warning, anytime! 


Critical Medical Conditions that need 

evaluation at the clinic! 

• High Blood Pressure 

• Heart Disease 

• Asthma 

• Seizures 


Critical Medical Conditions that need 

evaluation at the TMC! 


• Placed on medication for a mental 
illness 

• Diabetes 

• Cancer 


OR ANY OTHER SERIOUS MEDICAL 

CONDITION 


Failure to disclose any of these 
medical conditions may result in 

Serious Harm or Sudden Death once 
you begin initial entry training.

If you have one of the 

conditions... 


See about getting an evaluation at 

the Troop Medical Clinic (TMC) 

TMC will evaluate you. 

Tell TMC all you know about your 
condition so proper evaluation can be 
done. 

Once cleared you may continue 
training

• Soldier knew he 
had heart disease. 


He never told

• 9:05 Soldier collapses on ground 

• 9:07 Ambulance called 

• 9:10 Ambulance arrives 

• 9:20 Soldier arrives at Emergency 
Room 

• 10:05 Soldier not responding to 
emergency medical procedures 

• 10:35 Soldier pronounced dead despite 
all attempts to save his life.

can take to avoid infectious 


rl . . illnesses 

Clean your hands: 

•After using the latrine 
•Before touching food 
•After sneezing, blowing your m 
or coughing into your hand 
Wash hands with soap and water 
if hands are oily or dirty 
Use hand-sanitizing gel if hands 
are not soiled and you can't 
use soap and water 
Keep hands away from eyes, 
nose, and mouth - and use hand 
sanitizing gel after hand contac 
with your nose or mouth 





Wash and/or sanitize your hands regular^
